After some funding to get an invigorating local creative project off the ground? The 2024 Country Arts Support Program (CASP) might be the kind of assistance that your idea needs to become a reality. Individuals, organisations and community groups in the Murray Arts Footprint, are encouraged to submit applications which have creative outcomes in the AlburyCity, Greater Hume and Federation Local Government Areas.
CASP is an annual small grants program administered by Murray Arts to support a creative and vibrant regional NSW arts scene. Grants from $500 to $5,000 is up for grabs for each successful applicant, for projects occurring between 1 January and 31 December 2024. We have $17,000 to allocate for the Murray Arts 2024 CASP round. Eligible activities include workshops, exhibitions, performances, artist-in-residence programs, and public art and design projects.
Previous CASP rounds have aided Murray River Fine Music to bring independent Israeli-Australian singer-songwriter Lior to Albury (2021), supported Albury Wodonga Photography Group to mount their poignant ‘In The Bubble’ exhibition at Turks Head Gallery (2021), Howlong Public School were able to commission Wiradjuri Artist David Dunn to create a mural (2019) and the Headlie Taylor Header Museum in Henty delivered a sculpture workshop with Paul Smits (2018) all thanks to CASP.
This long-running funding program will be administered by Murray Arts in partnership with Create NSW. CASP is all about giving regional people access to a diverse range of cultural programs each year and bringing opportunities which may otherwise not be available.
‘CASP Funding has been kicking around since the late 80’s, in fact next year CASP will be turning 37 years old, which is a very big milestone in the arts funding realm. We are moving into our 3RD year of administrating CASP in house and are very proud to boast a very quick turn around from when applications close, to when all applicants are notified of the outcomes. The 2024 CASP round is anticipated to once again be highly sought after and we look forward to supporting as many projects as we can.’ States outgoing Executive Director Alyce Fisher.
The process is an online application via Smarty Grants, and the applicants are required to discuss their proposals with the team at Murray Arts before submission. Applications Open 9am Friday 1 September 2023 and Close 5pm Tuesday 31 October 2023, AEST.
