Sue Wood – Make It, Mark It, A Mixed Media Weekend Workshop

New to mixed media? Curious about the different mark making supplies available in your local art shop? This workshop combines experimental mark making, basic mono print, and mixed media processes with the pleasure of creating a handmade book. Participants will take home a new gel plate for practice at home.

Sue has a wide range of visual arts skills, including mixed media talents. She focuses on textiles, paint and paper. She has enjoyed the relationship between art and books with many of her students going on to become successful book artists. Sue is a popular artist with national engagements to facilitate short and long term workshop training.

Participants will experiment with various supplies and mixed media processes through a series of guided mark making and mixed media experiments. Using the simplest of bookmaking techniques you will create an original handmade book with a hand-painted canvas cover to contain your experiments.

Most of Sue’s collage papers are made using a gel plate and acrylic paint, although occasionally hand painted paper finds its way into the mix. Adding linear details and small pops of colour with chalk pencils and wax crayons
