Yaama!
Six Story tellers, weaving tales of cultural resilience, justice and unwavering truth.
A Story telling night like no other!
Aunty Glennys Briggs, Aunty Ruth Davys, Aaron Perkins Kemp Berger, Davina Jackson, Kat Kitch and Racheal Oak Butler.
Look forward to seeing you there, mandaang guwu!

Glennys Briggs
I am Taungwurrung /Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri from North Central Victoria.I was born and raised on my father’s Yorta Yorta country and lived for a while in the shared country of the Dja Dja Wurrung and my mothers people the Taungwurrung, just south of Bendigo. This country is situated in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range where bedrock breaks the surface.
I am a visual and performing artist. My art practice covers all mediums. The cultural influences in my work reflect the strong connection to my people and land. Like a time-lapse photograph, my work is ever changing to reveal a long history, like the layers of a midden, each revealing more of the story; re-visioning dark histories in ways that invite the viewer or listener to acknowledge and accept my Indigenous history and this country’s dark history. Until many of these issues are addressed and we are acknowledged and that this country sits on stolen land I will continue my role as an cultural artist and educator.
Ruth Davys
Ruth Davys is a proud Wiradjuri woman, storyteller and creative whose work is grounded in culture, language and Country. Through writing, performance, weaving and creative projects, she explores the stories, experiences and voices that connect people to place and to one another. Ruth creates from lived experience, with truth, strength and connection, and a strong belief in keeping culture visible, living and carried forward.
Aaron Perkins Kemp Berger
Proud and strong maternal line of Arrente mob in Alice Springs now residing in Albury Wodonga. Aarona is everybody’s Aunty, Uncle and Mumma one, who should have been given the keys to the city long ago and the title of Honourable Mayor in this ol’ River town. He brings a treasured resonance within everything he does.
Performing in shows, across the border for minimum 10 years sharing a different side of what is often unseen or understood.
Davina Jackson
A Gunditjmara woman living and working on Wiradjuri County, Davina is a deep thinker, daydreamer, milestone mistake maker and self-confessed attention seeker, sometimes.
She delivers her observations of the world with sharp wit and raw uncomfortable truth.
Equal parts realist and imaginative storyteller she is passionate about making genuine connections and slowing down to listen to the Universe as she whispers.
Kat Kitch
Kat is a Wiradjuri person, who can be described as having a curiosity streak a mile wide, always up for having a chat, and a giant nerd with approximately zero chill when talking about their favorite interests. Kat can often be found drawing connections between their background in science and archaeology, their lived experiences, and their culture. These connections become the foundation for many of their stories, ranging from nostalgia of times bygone to their journey of connecting to culture and community.
Racheal Oak Butler
Proudly Gomeroi, Racheal Oak Butler is a musician, writer, actor and self-defence teacher. Mix contemporary folk with a spark of vocal fire, soul and grit from well-travelled feet and add a lifetime surrounded by music, story tellers, poets and tinkers. Gleaning from this magik and adding their own, Racheal has conjured up 30 + years of performance to date; concoctions of music collaborations and varying productions of tales shared in theatre, spoken word, song and fire lit frivolities. Telling stories of the heart is fundamental to who Racheal is. With a voice that is unique and goes straight to the core for all that listen.
