These classes for adults are a playful and creative exploration of dance and movement. Through attuning to our body’s innate awareness and expressive capacities they can dance freely, safely and joyfully in connection with others.
In this 5-week series they will:
• Explore and expand movement potential and pathways
• Play with space, imagination and structure
• Increase attunement and responsiveness to our own and other’s movement
• Develop awareness, spontaneity and confidence
• Embrace our individual embodiment as guide and teacher
They dance in bare feet and spend time working on the floor. All you need in comfy clothing, an open mind and readiness to embrace the unknown.
Facilitator, Ann-maree Ellis: haveI taught Dance Improvisation & Body Awareness at Deakin University for 3 years (2008-2010) and was a founding member of the dance improvisation performance collective, The Little Con (2005-2013). While running Albury’s Write Around the Murray Festival for 12 years, I made occasional forays into teaching and performing locally, and continue to dance with my peers in the Melbourne contact improv community. Come and explore dance improv as I begin offering local workshops and classes, and holding space for dance jams throughout the year.
