Legends of the High Country
Every year, the Man From Snowy River Bush Festival Art and Photography Exhibition brings together some of the most exciting artistic talent in north eastern Victoria and beyond, celebrating the landscapes, legends and stories that define this extraordinary corner of Australia.
This year’s theme, Legends of the High Country, is an invitation to go deep. Into the mountains, into the history, into the characters who shaped this country and the ones still making their mark on it today. Paintings, sculptures, works on paper and photography all find a home here, alongside the beloved Elyne Mitchell Photo Story Awards.
Whether you paint the peaks of the Snowy Mountains or the weathered face of a stockman you have known all your life, whether your High Country is a place on the map or a place in your imagination, this is your stage. The theme is as wide as the sky up here. Let it take you somewhere.
The Exhibition opens in grand style on Thursday 16th April with Opening Night from 5:30pm to 9:00pm, continuing through Friday and Saturday as a live sale. Come to see extraordinary work, meet the artists, and take something home that will mean something.
This year the Art Show is also proud to host visiting artist Dan Butterworth, Archibald Prize finalist and star of the ABC’s Portrait Artist of the Year, for live painting demonstrations and a free community workshop sponsored by Upper Murray Inc. It is shaping up to be a very special year indeed
