Acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Megan Rigoni has taken home the coveted ‘Best Feature Script’ award at the 2025 Blue Bird Film Festival in India for her screenplay Days Like These.

This latest triumph adds to a growing list of accolades, including ‘Best Female Screenwriter’ at the New York Screenplay Competition and ‘Best Australian Script’ at the Best Script Awards in London.

Inspired by her acclaimed play Carpe Diem, Rigoni’s Days Like These is a heartwarming road-trip comedy about resilience, friendship, and fresh starts. Dave Matthews loses everything – his farm, his marriage, and his confidence – until he finds support in an unconventional but loyal group of misfits. Meanwhile, his best mate, Johno, sets off on his own journey, leaving his prized Jaguar in their hands. With a bold new makeover, the car becomes their rally ride, launching them into a whirlwind of hilarious misadventures, unexpected reunions, and a reminder that true mateship can steer you through any detour.

At its core, Days Like These shines a light on the importance of mental health, showing that reaching out, accepting help, and leaning on friends can make all the difference.

“I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to connect, heal, and inspire,” Rigoni said.
“Days Like These is deeply personal to me, and I’m overjoyed that it’s gaining recognition. The film hasn’t been made yet, but I truly hope this award helps bring it one step closer to the big screen. It’s a story that needs to be told. Sharing these themes with a wider audience on the big screen and reminding people that humour, friendship, and resilience can make all the difference in tough times.”
