Thirty years ago, HotHouse Theatre helped create a place where comedy, cabaret, music and mayhem could collide.
The Galah Bar became part of the cultural fabric of the region—a place to laugh, gather, perform and generally carry on.
In 2027, it’s HotHouse’s 30th Birthday and we’re launching ourAus Art day campaign to raise funds to bring back the iconic Galah Bar. The parent company of HotHouse, the Murray River Performing Group and the original Galah Bar, was a comedy and cabaret event which launched the careers of many Australian comedians in the 70’s & 80’s.
Give the Galah a second act!
Funds raised will help HotHouse programme a weekend of cheeky fun, and maybe some new trouble in Autumn 2027
Creative Australia will match it dollar-for-dollar up to $5k
