Experience an inspiring afternoon of music with the Albury Wodonga Symphony Orchestra as we present Joyful Dances on Sunday 16 August at 2.30pm at The Cube Wodonga.
Conducted by acclaimed Australian conductor, composer and artistic director Evan Lawson, this vibrant program celebrates joy through music. Highlights include Holst’s majestic Jupiter, Bizet’s colourful Carmen Suite No. 2 and L’Arlésienne Suite No. 2. Evan Lawson will conduct his own evocative Atlas of Joy, and we will be playing a beautiful piece called The Path by Australian composer May Lyon, featuring our principal trumpet Billy Stewart.
The concert will also feature the world premiere of the orchestra’s Musical Acknowledgement of Country, a unique work co-created with Wiradjuri Elder Uncle Darren Wighton and composed by acclaimed Australian composer Gordon Kerry, an important milestone for our community orchestra.
