Local creative Arthur Hull is preparing to take his award-winning solo show to some of the world’s biggest stages.

The former Indigo Shire resident is heading overseas with FLOP! The Best Songs from the Worst Musicals — a celebration of musical theatre’s greatest misfires that has become anything but a failure. Following success across Australia and recognition at some of the world’s leading fringe festivals, Arthur will take the show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before making his West End debut later this year.

Arthur’s journey is a powerful reminder of the creative talent that can emerge from our regional communities. Before captivating audiences around Australia and internationally, Arthur spent 10 years training with Albury’s own Flying Fruit Fly Circus, developing the performance skills, confidence and creativity that would become the foundation of his career.

From those early years in regional arts, Arthur has gone on to build an impressive artistic path. In 2024, he reached new heights in Channel 7’s The Voice  before being crowned Australian National Busking Champion. He then created FLOP! — an original solo show combining his love of musical theatre, comedy and storytelling.

The premise is simple but inspired: celebrate the songs from musicals that never achieved the success their creators hoped for. Rather than poking fun at these productions, Arthur’s show is a love letter to musical theatre and the creativity behind even its most unlikely moments.

The result has been a remarkable success story. FLOP! was a Judge’s Pick at Melbourne Fringe, won the Best Emerging Artist Award at Adelaide Fringe, and later received international recognition at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where Arthur won a Best Performance award.

Critics have praised Arthur’s extraordinary vocals, charisma and ability to bring audiences along for the ride.

What an absolute joy to spend an evening in the company of the scarily talented Arthur Hull,” wrote The List, awarding the show five stars. “Hull is a force of nature, a stunning singer clearly besotted with Musical Theatre.

Now Arthur is taking FLOP! back to Edinburgh for a major season at the Gilded Balloon, performing 22 shows as part of the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show will then travel through the UK, including performances at Wilton’s Music Hall in London — one of the world’s most historic performance venues.

His story highlights the important role our regional community plays in supporting artists from their earliest experiences through to international careers. From his beginnings locally to stages across Australia and now the United Kingdom, Arthur Hull is proving that world-class creative careers can begin right here.

FLOP! The Best Songs from the Worst Musicals tours the UK from July to September 2026, including performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Wilton’s Music Hall, London.
