Are you familiar with the incredible art created by Japan Born, Wangaratta based: TARO IIYAMA.

Well, you are in for a rare treat, as a collection of his latest sculptures are coming to Beechworth Contemporary. The exhibition is titled QUEST and will feature 8 brand new sculptural pieces direct from the artist’s home studio.

Taro creates mind bending sculptural forms that are meticulously created by folding and weaving recycled cardboard.

Nina Hunt (from Beechworth Contemporary Art Space) was introduced to Taro’s sculpture prior to launching Beechworth Contemporary, as the judge of the Chiltern Art Award. Taro’s cardboard sculpture was rewarded the first prize in the 3D category. Taro’s work was a standout and a truly unique talent. He has continued to win many awards beyond the regions and has held many highly successful solo exhibitions in public and private galleries in Australia and also in Japan.

Taro’s sculpture continues to be purchased by astute collectors and lovers of unique sculptural artworks.
