HotHouse Theatre is embarking on an exciting new chapter and invites bold, imaginative creative leaders from across Australia to express their interest in shaping the future of one of the country’s most community-connected regional theatre companies – and helping to shape the cultural landscape of regional Australia.

For nearly 30 years, HotHouse has been the beating heart of Albury-Wodonga’s creative life — developing and presenting new Australian work, amplifying regional voices, and forging deep connections between artists and audiences.

As the company moves into a new phase guided by its 2030 Vision, it is seeking visionary individuals or groups ready to embrace innovative artistic leadership models and fresh approaches to making theatre.

“We’re inviting creative leaders to think expansively about what leadership in the arts can look like,” said Terese Casu, CEO at HotHouse Theatre. “Whether through a single leader, co-leadership, or a more unconventional model, we are excited to see proposals that will help HotHouse continue to thrive and push creative boundaries.”

HotHouse Theatre is particularly interested in leaders who champion storytelling, participation, community engagement, inclusivity, innovation, and equity – and who are passionate about reimagining the possibilities of theatre within a regional setting.

While a local presence would be advantageous, HotHouse Theatre welcomes proposals from creative leaders based outside the region who can foster deep and meaningful connections with the Albury-Wodonga community.

Incoming leaders will benefit from HotHouse’s unique creative assets, including the recently upgraded Butter Factory Theatre and Studio, and The GreenHouse – a purpose-built artist residency space nestled among the stunning Wonga Wetlands. These facilities, combined with a strong regional audience base and a proud history of artist development, offer an unparalleled platform for creativity and connection.

This is a rare opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the cultural life of regional Australia and to lead one of the country’s most respected regional arts companies into an exciting new future.
