Australian based textile artist Yvonne Line has the opening of her much-anticipated exhibition, Threads of Life. This is a powerful exploration of her art practise, identity and the tactile beauty of fabric-based art.
Until her permanent disability, two years ago, with Alzheimer’s Disease Yvonne had been actively creating. Her career spanning over six decades, Yvonne Line has consistently pushed the boundaries of textile art, blending traditional seamstress skills with her formal art training.
Threads of Life will present twenty unpublished panels.
This exhibition is also support by an innovative audio performance overlay by actor Kerryn Beatty. Kerryn has taken Yvonne’s diary and created a poem to match the creation of the daily work over many months of creation. This gives some understanding of an artist’s compulsion to create.
Yvonne, created a small textile piece based on her daily inspiration from her found materials collection. From these 390 daily pieces twenty presentation panels were created using an artist inspired eye.
This exhibition also brings together a curated selection of her most evocative works, including hand-dyed panels, layered fabric compositions, and intricate threadwork that draws the viewer into a dialogue between surface and depth, softness and strength and viewers own memories.
