Join us at The Pumphouse for a reinterpretation of a traditional tea ceremony with artist, Jayanto Tan.

The act of gathering and drinking tea together symbolises the sharing of culture and the exchange of friendship and social connection. During these tea ceremonies, we’ll gather, make clay treats and cook traditional family recipes together to embrace tales of the past and gain a better understanding for our future.

Please bring…
A simple homemade dish to share and/or a treasured object from home or a loved one that you’d like to share with us.

Tea and clay materials provided.

This event is free to attend, but please register to let us know that you will be coming.

This event is facilitated by The Pumphouse Artist in Residence Program.

About the Artist
Originally from North Sumatra, Indonesia, and now based in Sydney, Jayanto draws on personal experiences of ‘otherness’ through ceramics installation, found objects, authentic recipes, performances and workshops.
