Local artist Brooke Whelan will take up residency in the Hyphen Creative Studio from March through May this year as the recipient of the 2025 Murray Arts Emerging Artist Residency Grant.
Brooke’s work explores themes of memory, identity and the beauty of both domestic and rural spaces. Drawing inspiration from everyday surroundings, Brooke captures the stillness and subtle stories embedded in suburban life.
During her residency, Brooke plans to create a cohesive body of work that reflects the influence of Wodonga’s surroundings and architectural history. The local environment, combined with her existing interest in mid-century design, will inspire new perspectives in her exploration of domestic spaces and personal histories.
