Kids Gallery Opening: Fizzy Drinks / Material Links

Join MAMA for the opening of our fourth Kids Gallery commission Fizzy Drinks / Material Links by Albury raised artist, Marley Dawson.

Drop-in to meet the artist while you explore the new installation, and enjoy a morning of family-friendly activities and Wonder Cupboard tours across the Museum.

Inspired by Dawson’s installation, kids of all ages will be invited to let their imaginations loose in transforming recycled materials into their own playful structures. This activity will be held in the Atrium (Ground Floor).

Designed specifically for young people, Fizzy Drinks / Material Links playfully combines materials like brass, aluminium, glass and stone that the artist has used throughout his career. The installation celebrates the “material links” that have connected Dawson’s work for years with the “fizzy drinks” excitement of a children’s playground.

About the Artist

Using chemistry, mechanics and construction techniques, Marley Dawson creates sculptures and installations that highlight aspects of our world and selves that can be uncanny, surreal and extraordinary. Canberra-based, Albury-raised, Dawson has been exhibiting extensively for over a decade in Australia and internationally.
