Chris Ellis was born in Albury 1961, spending most of his childhood on his parent’s farm. He started drawing before he could walk and was given his fist set of oil paints at the age of nine.
Chris studied Fine Art at Caulfield Institute of Technology between 198081. In 1982 he purchased his own farm in the Henty district and despite the workload, he constructed a studio space allowing him to express his passion for both farming and for art.
This exhibition is a special selection of ephemeral abstract, landscape and drop paintings from Chris’ collection. The mediums include bold oil on canvas and more subtle watercolour on Arches paper.
A central theme for this exhibition comes from a flight over Lake Eyre capturing stunning ephemeral images by camera and then creating the artwork in his studio.
