Beechworth Biennale 2026: Applications Now Open for Regional Creatives

The Beechworth Biennale is back for its second edition, returning on 7–9 March 2026, and is calling for artists across our local and regional communities to take part in this unique public art event.

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2024, the Biennale invites artists to create site-responsive artworks that engage with the rich and layered history of Beechworth and the broader region. Artworks will be displayed throughout the historic township, offering a free and immersive art experience for visitors and locals alike.

This year’s Biennale will welcome special guest Myles Russell-Cook, CEO and Artistic Director of the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), alongside Blair French (MAMA) and Caroline Esbenshade (SAM), who will support the selection process.

A key focus for 2026 is greater representation from local, regional, First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, and emerging younger artists.

All selected artists will receive a $1,000 artist fee, with an additional $500 payment available for works made specifically for Beechworth sites.

Artists interested in applying can find more information and submit their proposal via the Beechworth Biennale website.

📅 Event Dates: 7–9 March 2026
📍 Location: Various public spaces, Beechworth
