Murray region artist Karen Brown has been recognised for her outstanding talent at the King Valley Art Show, taking home the prestigious Major Works on Paper Award for her graphite pencil drawing titled “Winter.”

The winning piece showcases Brown’s mastery of light, texture and emotion through the subtle precision of graphite pencil — a hallmark of her work that continues to earn admiration from peers and collectors alike.

Building on this recent success, Karen Brown is set to share her expertise in an upcoming Graphite Pencil Workshop this weekend. The hands-on session offers participants the opportunity to learn directly from an award-winning artist, exploring techniques that bring depth and life to graphite drawing.

The workshop is hosted at Art Parts Fine Art, providing a welcoming space for creatives of all skill levels to refine their craft under Brown’s guidance.
