BIOGRAPHY

Printmaker and Sculptor Chris Ingham was born in Adelaide. He is currently living and working in Melbourne, where he divides his time between his art practice and part-time work as a printer editioning etchings and lithographs and teaching printmaking workshops at Baldessin Press.

He spent many years working at Fundere Fine Art Foundry, casting monumental bronze sculptures, learning the craft of waxwork and mould making, leading to him developing and pursuing his own style of making small and hand painted quirky bronze figures.

Chris has participated in numerous residencies in both Europe and North America, and along with this has exhibited his work widely and shown in many prize shows here in Australia. Chris work explores traditional mediums and methods of making art, coupled with an expressive and gestural personal mark making style that is heavily reliant on spontaneity, humour and freshness.

Join them at Creators Artspace to meet Chris Ingham in his workshop, ‘Introduction to Plate Lithography’. It is a 2-day intensive hands-on weekend course which will introduce participants to the fascinating art of plate lithography. This technique uses the immediate and accessible technique of drawing on aluminium plates. Unlike stone lithography, the use an aluminium plate gives great results without a lot of preparation and heavy lifting.

This will allow the participants to create immediate and fresh imagery using crayons and painterly techniques. You will be able to break into the world of lithography by using a basic drawing of an image to successfully rolling up and printing on an aluminium plate.

Participants need to bring: a sketchbook or photographs, notebook and pen and an apron.
Please Note: Membership Fee Annually for Creators Artspace is $35.00.

In this workshop participants will learn:
Plate preparation
Cutting plates to size
de-oxidising the plates
Setting up registration marks and gumming the margins
Etching
Printing and Editing
Proofing and editing
Setting up the Etching Press
