Towong Shire Council is looking for a suitably experienced artist to create murals on two buildings in Hanson Street, Corryong.
The full Request For Quote document outlining details can be downloaded here.
Outline of the process:
Stage 1: Initial Consultation The successful artists will be required to meet with the PSG. Ideally, this meeting will be in person; however, a remote meeting is acceptable.
Stage 2: Concept Formation Using feedback and ideas from the initial consultation, the artists will develop two mural concepts (for each site) for consideration. Mural concepts may be hand-drawn, painted, or digital. While the concepts are not intended to be ‘polished’ drawings, they should demonstrate the intended design elements, colour scheme, and scale of works.
Stage 3: Present Mural Concept A presentation of mural concepts will be made to the PSG. The PSG, in conjunction with Towong Shire Council staff and the building owner, will provide feedback.
Stage 4: Site Preparation The artists will be responsible for preparing the site for the mural application. This will include cleaning, priming, and purchasing consumables. Towong Shire Council can assist in identifying a suitable local subcontractor to attend to these works if the artists prefer to outsource them; however, the associated expenses will remain with the artists.
Stage 5: Mural Installation The artists will be responsible for installing the artworks using quality materials, including an anti-graffiti finish. The artists will bear all costs associated with the installation, including tools and machinery (such as a scissor lift).
Stage 6: Video Production The artists will be requested to participate in the production of a video for each mural. A plaque with a QR code will be installed at each site, linking to a video of the artists telling the story behind the mural. All production expenses associated with creating the video will be borne by Towong Shire Council.
Submissions must be lodged via email to kerissa.heritage@towong.vic.gov.au by 12.00pm Thursday 11 May 2025.
Late submissions may be accepted at the discretion of Towong Shire Council.
For further information, please contact the Towong Shire Economic Development Officer Tourism, Kerissa Heritage: kerissa.heritage@towong.vic.gov.au or 0428 568 156.
