Overview
NSW Regional Youth Creative Industry mentoring and development Program
Horizons is a state-wide regional project that provides direct intensive support to young people (aged 16-27) wanting to pursue a career in the creative industries. Horizons will celebrate and support the creative strengths of 75 young people from the 15 Regions of the NSW Regional Arts Network over 18 months.
Participating regional youth will be paired with successful practitioners from their chosen field, connecting them into a network of peers and demonstrating career opportunities within a regional context. It will provide new and enhance existing pathways for young regional people to explore further work and study opportunities in the creative industries. The program is holistic and will also explore leadership, physical and mental well-being and fellowship. The results of this extended mentoring program will be shared through a creative industry showcase developed and led by the project participants.
Participants will:
- Be paired with a mentor who is a practicing artist or creative industries person working in Regional NSW
- Work with their mentor to codesign their program according to their needs and goals throughout 2024
- Receive a stipend of $750 just for participating in this project. Approved travel expenses and associated material costs will also be covered.
- Work on a collective showcase that addresses pressing issues for regional young people through collaborating with the 75 other participants.
