...Then He Came Home, 2017 Documentary film, Running time 10 mins, Nomad Films

...Then He Came Home 2017 Documentary film was designed to tell the real homecoming stories of Aboriginal ANZACS, at a time when they were not even considered citizens of the country they had fought for. Executive Director Maggih Coaes together with Producer Leisa Whyte, worked in close consultation with many people in the local Aboriginal community throughout this project. Those who were willing, were then interviewed about the enormous issues faced by their family members and how this still continues to resonate and impact on them today.

From this research a one act play ...Then He Came Home, based on some of the stories and experiences, was written by local playwright Leisa Whyte. A rehearsed reading of the play is planned for November 2018.

The Documentary film and one act play were created to share and acknowledge the local Aboriginal community stories, commemorating and remembering their own people's history of service. It will allow everyone to appreciate their contribution to the Anzac legacy: a shared legacy for all Australians. In particular it will enrich the local ANZAC narrative.
