Lauren Black – Executive Director director@murrayarts.org.au

Lauren Black has enjoyed an diverse career working for and collaborating with non-profit and national arts organisations across broadcasting, music, theatre, visual arts and education. 

An experienced marketing and communications professional, Lauren is in a unique position to support creatives not only from an artistic perspective but also from a business and communications point of view.  

A jazz musician and radio presenter with over 20 years experience, Lauren fronted and ran Canberra Big Band In Full Swing as well as working independently across the jazz scene and hosting the live-broadcast concert series Friday Night Live. 

Born and raised in Albury, Lauren has a personal connection to Murray region and is serious about advocating for the value of arts in regional communities.

Julien Bonnel - Headshot

Julien Bonnel – Executive Support & Grants – jbonnel@murrayarts.org.au

Julien spent the past decade honing his skills in arts administration at Select Music, a prominent booking agency in the live music sector. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in overseeing an impressive 20,000 bookings, contributing significantly to the success of countless live events. This extensive experience has equipped Julien with a deep understanding of the dynamics of the entertainment and arts industry, making him an invaluable asset to our team.

Stepping into this new role, Julien looks forward to providing exceptional administration support to the Murray Arts team as well as being a valuable resource for the local arts community. He’s passionate about providing information and guidance that connects creatives to grant and development opportunities as well as creating sustainable pathways allowing local artists and the arts community to thrive.

Mark-John Martyn – First Nations Creative Development Officer – mjmartyn@murrayarts.org.au

Mark-John is a proud Wadjarri man and graffiti artist who has been experimenting in the aesthetics of graffiti ‘tagging’ styles to create paintings that challenge perceived ideas of contemporary Australian Indigenous art. 

No stranger to Murray Arts having previously featured works in Burraja Gallery and contributed to First Nations programming and funding panels, Mark-John is looking forward to connecting with community in this role and improving opportunities for professional development and employment for First Nations creatives. 

This role will see Mark-John participating in state and national First Nations mentoring programs and connecting with counterparts across the Regional Arts Development Network.
